Aaaand, we're off! It's day one of New York Fashion Week, and we're geared up to start devouring all of the 2014 Fall/Winter runway looks.
BCBGMAXAZRIA was one of our favorite shows of the first day, kicking Fashion Week off with a furry bang. Seriously, there were a ton of majorly oversized fur coats that completely swallowed up the svelte runway models. We have a feeling the frigid Fashion Week goers were wishing they were swaddled up in one of those things right about now.
And we also love how the fur muff is making a comeback. It may not be the most practical winter accessory, but it's so chic. Speaking of fur accessories, there were also some fur hoods in the Nicholas K show. Models wore the fuzzy headpieces with deeply cut blouses, which somehow made us feel both warm and freezing at the same time.
Models at Nicholas K also donned low-cut pants that were slung so low below the hipbone, they were making us nervous. There were fewer ab-baring looks at Richard Chai, with most of the models covered up in menswear-inspired layers and roomy jackets.
And while most of the looks we've seen so far are all in a dark color palette (which is expected—it's for fall, after all), we appreciated the bright pops of sunshine yellow and cool mint in the Creatures of the Wind show.
