Watch: Reverend Jesse Jackson Gives Update on Khloe Kardashian

Lamar Odom remains hospitalized and in a coma after suffering what is believed to be an accidental drug overdose, while Reverend Jesse Jackson says the former NBA star is "surrounded by lots of love," with Khloe Kardashian by his bedside.

The 35-year-old former NBA star was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel. Khloe, accompanied by and her mother Kris Jenner and pregnant sister Kim Kardashian, flew from California to see him. A hospital source told E! News on Wednesday morning that Odom is "in a coma and hasn't woken up or responded." Jackson, who also visited him, said doctors say he is recovering. There has been no official comment from the medical center.

Khloe and Odom split in 2013 after four years of marriage and they both signed divorce papers this past July. They are still legally married until a judge approves them. Khloé has been by Odom's bedside since she arrived at the hospital, E! News has learned.

Jackson told E! News and other outlets he felt "great joy" seeing her embrace Odom and give him care.

"She's strong, she's hopeful, she's loving and caring," he said. "She is so serious. And when he does wake up, he'll see her and that's a source of joy and consolation."

Odom's teammate Kobe Bryant left a Los Angeles Lakers game in Las Vegas early to see him as well. Jackson told E! News on Wednesday a couple of Odom's childhood friends from New York have also visited.

"That must be some source of consolation to him," he said. "He's surrounded by lots of love."

The hospital source had told E! News earlier in the day that it was likely Odom had suffered an accidental overdose, adding that doctors found evidence of crack cocaine and "virtually every drug imaginable" in his system, and then may have had an ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot preventing blood flow to the brain and is often associated with overdoses of a cocaine and other drugs. He likely has brain damage as a result, the source said.

As of Wednesday morning, he remains comatose and in critical condition and is breathing with the help of a ventilator.

Jackson said he has been praying with Odom.

"The ground is no place for a champion," he said. "Champions rise."
