Being on the road a lot, I tend to skip my workouts when I'm filming on location, blaming the mega-early starts and lack of gym equipment in my hotel.

That was, until I met epic personal trainer Ashley Borden. She's basically my favorite person ever: an upbeat, hilarious and experienced  trainer who has worked with the likes of Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore and Ryan Gosling (did I mention Ryan Gosling?), and has devised a fitness routine for me when I'm stuck in a hotel room or only have 15 minutes spare. So in case you travel a lot for work, or for whatever reason can't leave the house to hit the gym, I want to share her tips with you.

Ashley's approach is unique: She aims to help realign the body until you have better posture and form. Because we live in a world of computers, the majority of people she sees have what she calls "computer body": Forward head carriage, hunched round shoulders, and a weak core and butt.

By making me roll out with a PVC roller (P.S. it feels awesome), you get an active full body massage, which warms up the muscles, increases flexibility, efficiency and metabolic rate.

It gets the body ready for exercise and over time, helps realign limbs into the correct anatomical position. It's an all-round winner that I can't believe I never did it before in all my years of exercising!

In addition to rolling out, watch Ashley talk me through some simple resistance exercises and stretches, not least of which is aptly named the Manicure Ruiner…check out the video!
