Ashton Kutcher is fine, but his house has been the scene of a punking.
Police received a report via teletype this morning of shots fired at the Two and a Half Men star's Hollywood Hills home, the finger-pointer claiming that he was trapped in the bathroom and there had been a shooting. But when officers arrived at the scene, they found three men and no evidence that anything was amiss—other than the fact that the cops had apparently been the victim of a hoax.
"We responded accordingly," Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cleon Joseph told KCAL9 at the scene. "We sent resources out, helicopters, the whole works, out to a hostage rescue. When we got here, apparently it wasn't so."
"Safe an sound at two and a half men. Don't miss tomorrow night 8:30," Kutcher tweeted/promoted after news broke of the disturbance at his house.
The three people found at the scene were questioned but not taken into custody.
According to Joseph, one of Kutcher's assistants met police at the house and said nothing was wrong, but the responders opted to search the place anyway.
"We checked it out and found out, of course, it was a hoax," he said. "At the end of the day, we're going to get down to the bottom of it. We're going to get detectives on it. We're going to trace the teletype. Hopefully we can get down to who this person was and bring them to justice as quickly as possible."
Kutcher bought the place in March, having rented it for a spell following his split from Demi Moore after six years of marriage. The 9,300-square foot manse had been listed for close to $3.6 million.
Maybe there's something in the boredom-inducing water: Cops swarmed Miley Cyrus' home in August after what turned out to be a prank call about a possible break-in. Coincidentally, count Cyrus among the guest babes partaking in pillow talk with Kutcher this season on Two and a Half Men.
