InstagramIn the wake of Kim Richards' sobriety struggles, the reality star's ex-husband Monty Brinson has taken to Instagram to defend his former spouse in addition to speaking out on her behalf.
"@kimrichards all I will say at this time besides being best friends, and personally a person who has a great heart is thankful to all her fans and friends for believing in her," he wrote on social media alongside an old pic with Richards, whom he wed in 1995 and divorced 3 years later.
Brinson's post comes less than two weeks after the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was arrested for shoplifting. E! News also confirmed at the time that Kim's family briefly had her hospitalized.
"Personally I have not seen her but we speak everyday," Brinson, who is battling cancer and was previously cared for by Kim, wrote in his Instagram post. "Do I know everything absolutely. Do I take up for my family and friends absolutely. Do I say it like it is. Absolutely. Is my heard filled with love for everyone absolutely."
He continued, saying he is "excited" for Richards future without going into further detail.
"90 per-cent of what you read is completely false. But for her fans that have stayed with her through this roller coaster will see her very soon at what she's done best all her life since the age of 4," he wrote. "I'm excited for her. And personally I would like to thank everyone who stood by her through this rough time."
He concluded by writing, "Remember everyone in life goes through a rough time one way or another. I always say know the facts before being judgmental #life #love #heart #thankful #blessed #rhobh #friends #family #heart."
Richards, who has been in the spotlight for years for her sobriety struggles, has been in and out of rehab this year. Following her most recent stint, the Bravo star sat down with Entertainment Tonight and declared, "I love sobriety."
"There are people in the family who wish she had stayed in rehab longer," a source revealed to E! News following her arrest at Target. "They weren't happy she chose to leave early."
The mother of four's shoplifting arrest comes about four months after her previous run-in with the law at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The Bravo star, who was described as belligerent by officials responding to a reported fight at the hotel restaurant, was later charged with one count of public intoxication, one count of resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer or EMT, and one count of battery upon a peace officer.
