As if season two of Yellowjackets didn't have enough buzz.
While the return of the Showtime drama is already one of the most anticipated TV events of the year, Melanie Lynskey just dropped some new details about one highly anticipated new cast addition: her husband Jason Ritter.
"I can't say anything about it, but he did an episode," she exclusively told E! News at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards on March 4. "It's always so fun to be with him. He's such a nice person, he made me look better."
This isn't the first time the pair has had this arrangement as the Gravity Falls alum recently popped up in a surprise cameo in Melanie and Jessica Biel's 2022 Hulu miniseries Candy with the latter's husband Justin Timberlake.
"We've been on set together many times," Melanie added. "It's a difficult thing, because you're trying to figure out childcare."
And while fans of the show know to expect the unexpected when it comes to Yellowjackets, Melanie, who stars as Shauna alongside Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis as the now-adult survivors of a horrific 1996 plane crash, teased just how twisty things get in the series' second installment.
"So much surprised me," she explained of her character arc. "[Shauna's] really grappling with this idea of finding her power in doing dangerous things and so she's really pushing it this season. I would read the scripts and be like, 'What?!'"
Additionally, Elijah Wood, Simone Kessell and Lauren Ambrose have joined the cast, with the latter two playing adult versions of Lottie and Van, respectively—confirming they, too, made it out of the woods. And for the Servant actress, starring alongside a powerhouse cast of women was an extraordinary experience.
"Just to work with so many women my age, that's very rare," Lauren exclusively told E! News in January. "I actually welled up with tears when I saw that call sheet. I hadn't had the opportunity to be a part of something where so many women had similar roads being in the business for a long time—we're survivors in our own right."
