How Kylie Jenner Has Been Coping With What Happened to Kim Kardashian

Hanging with friends, cuddling her dogs and Snapchatting away—Kris Jenner's youngest is going about her routine while security tightens around the family

What happened to Kim Kardashian West didn't only happen to Kim Kardashian West.

The crime that occurred early Monday morning in Paris shook up her whole family, with Kim immediately jetting across the Atlantic to New York to join husband Kanye West—who left the stage mid-song when he got the call about what happened to his wife—and their children, North and Saint. Kris Jenner left Paris with her daughter and stuck by her side throughout, eventually returning to Los Angeles with Kim and her grandkids yesterday.

Kourtney Kardashian had been out with Kim at a dinner party earlier in the evening Sunday, but after seeing her safely back to her apartment had gone back out to a club with Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. Kourtney took off straight for L.A. on Monday and on Wednesday posted a passage of Scripture about finding hope and joy even in the most difficult of days.

Caitlyn Jenner, who had been home all the while and had taken Kylie Jenner to a car show on Sunday, was the first family member to post directly in reference to Kim, captioning a photo of her on Instagram, "Love my girl! After hearing the full story, I'm so thankful she's okay. It's a reminder for us all to be careful in the uncertainty of this world."

Overall, Kim's sisters have been abnormally quiet on the social media front—except for Kylie, whose accounts don't indicate that anything is amiss. Khloe Kardashian, who was spotted getting ready to fly out of L.A. today with three bodyguards in tow, has had a couple of business-related tweets and Instagrams go up this week, but they could have just as easily been pre-set to post.

Kylie hasn't been up to anything extraordinarily celebratory since Monday, her selfies and Snapchats indicating the continuation of her usual routine—a hair color change, hanging with friends, cuddling her dogs. She and Tyga took his son, King, for burgers yesterday at the Calabasas Commons, their usual stomping grounds.

Normal stuff. Business as usual. But is that weird, considering?

No, not really. The family got in touch with each other from far and wide when the news broke, with Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna finding out at Chyna's baby shower Sunday afternoon (as we take this moment to remember that Paris is nine hours ahead of L.A.) and immediately taking a timeout to make calls and be assured as much as possible from across the country that Kim was safe.

And once Kylie knew that Kim was physically OK...there she was, in L.A., while most of the rest of her family were collecting themselves and figuring out their next move. It's understandable if Kylie, who was 5,000 miles away, was upset and concerned but less personally traumatized than Kourtney or Kendall, who also dashed to Kim's side in Paris after the robbery and then flew out of France ahead of schedule on Monday.

While Kim's break from social media continues as she reassesses how she navigates the public eye moving forward, it won't be surprising if she eventually finds comfort in the tens of millions of followers she has, as well as all the fans who've virtually sent support her way.

And that's what Kylie's been doing in the meantime. The 19-year-old has pretty much become the premiere Snapchatter of her generation, and millions of people tune in daily to see what she's up to. Throughout the week she's been retweeting sweet, supportive messages she's been getting from fans about her Kylie Cosmetics, her philanthropy and other endeavors—nice, pleasant things to take one's mind off, as Caitlyn put it, "the uncertainty of this world."

Which isn't to say Kylie isn't getting on board with whatever direction her family is headed in the wake of what happened to Kim.

The teen herself is no stranger to unwanted attention, both on Twitter and in person, with an overzealous fan once managing to slip a decorative marriage proposal into a pizza box—a box that was subsequently delivered to the Jenner family's house amid 20 pizzas. Kris Jenner has weathered break-ins and trespassing at her house and knows the importance of making sure that security is tight at home.

And unfortunately, now the entire family has learned the hard way that letting up on security isn't really an option no matter where they are, at least for the foreseeable future.

Kim canceled an upcoming trip to Dubai, where she was supposed to be Oct. 14 for a makeup masterclass, and a source told E! News today that Khloe has canceled all book signings she had planned "due to recent events and ongoing security issues." Page Six is reporting that Kendall and Kylie also pulled the plug on in-person signings for their latest book, Time of the Twins, but would double-down on promoting it via social media.

Meanwhile, Kylie is usually surrounded by friends, loved ones and staff anyway—and at a time like this, nothing may sound more appealing than staying close to home, where a full house and millions of fans await.
