How nasty is the breakup between Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer?

Not nasty at all.

So says a friend of the couple who gave me a shout after I broke the news about their latest split to assure me that all is good between the two—even if they're no longer dating.

"They're definitely broken up, but it was completely amicable," the friend said. "I know everyone is looking for the big juicy fight, but there was none."

As I first reported earlier this week, the two broke up when Aniston returned to the U.S. after her recent European tour promoting Marley & Me with costar Owen Wilson.

While Mayer continues his prolific use of Twitter, he has yet to post anything about the breakup. His most recent tweet regarding Aniston came on March 2 about a People magazine online poll asking if Aniston should dump him.

"I just voted on People's "Is John Mayer a Keeper?" poll," he wrote in a tweet. "I clicked "Love Him" but "Lose Him" is winning at 63%."

He later added, "Be honest, you'd vote for yourself if you came across it, as well. Wouldn't you?"
