Jennifer Aniston was once simply known as a funny woman: before the world feasted on the collateral damage of Brangelina, before paparazzi hounded Vince Vaughn and Justin Theroux, before tabloids scrutinized every photo of her torso for insight into her uterus,
One of the most famous of America's best Friends, the former Mrs. Brad Pitt once faced two life-changing opportunities: Join the cast of Saturday Night Live, or take a role in a new sitcom called Friends.
It was an actress's dream dilemma, and a real testament to the Office Space star's comedic genius. Lucky for hairdressers everywhere, Jen chose to play Rachel on Friends, and women everywhere flocked to salons to fashion their hair after Aniston's, in a style that became known simply as The Rachel.
The show was an instant hit, and by its last season, the Golden Globe winner and her coworkers brought home paychecks of $1 million per episode. The half-Greek, one-eighth-Italian comedian could easily have found some lovely Mediterranean island to retire to.
But instead the Along Came Polly funny girl continues to treat us to a host of comedies: Bruce Almighty, The Break-Up, Just Go with It, Horrible Bosses, and Wanderlust to name a few.
For a while, though, Aniston's dissolved marriage threatened to overshadow her career. Tabloids and even mainstream media were abuzz after Brad Pitt left Jen and dated Angelina Jolie in 2005.
Ever the classy lady, the jilted star wore her head high as pictures emerged of Brad strolling the beaches of Kenya with Angie, telling Vanity Fair magazine, "Who would deal with that and say, ‘Isn't that sweet! That looks like fun!' But s--- happens. You joke and say, ‘What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.'"
Indeed, a much stronger Jen has emerged.
After hitting the dating scene (First with The Break Up co-star Vince Vaughn, then John Mayer), The Good Girl met the dirty naked hippie of her dreams on the set of Wanderlust.
Justin Theroux and Aniston began publicly dating in 2011. Less than a year later, on his 41st birthday, Justin said his girlfriend gave him "an extraordinary gift" when the We're the Millers star agreed to marry him.
