Now that Lamar Odom is seeking treatment in Los Angeles, his aunt, JaNean Mercer, is taking time to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for giving her nephew such wonderful care. In a statement obtained by E! News, Mercer gives an update about his ongoing recovery and asks for continued prayers from friends, fans and family.

"On behalf of JaNean Mercer and the entire Odom family, we would like to send a tremendous THANK YOU to the illustrious medical team at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas," she syas in the statement. "Your superb, round-the-clock care gave us the comfort and assurances we desperately needed to know Lamar would persevere.

"As Lamar begins a new chapter in his road to recovery, PLEASE continue to uplift him and the family in prayer. He continues to make miraculous progress, taking a few steps in Los Angeles," the statement continues. "We couldn't be more overjoyed! We realize Lamar's continued improvement will not be easy, however his unrelenting strength and faith in GOD will pull him through.

"To everyone from across the nation and around the world who continued to send your love and prayers, we THANK YOU sincerely."

E! News exclusively reported Monday evening that Odom was given OK to depart the Nevada hospital and head to California to continue treatment. Although his condition is improving every day, the former Los Angeles Lakers star has a long way to go. Fortunately, he has had the support of Khloe Kardashian throughout this entire ordeal.

"You can tell it's taking a toll on Khloe, but she is staying strong for Lamar," a source told E! News.

Though Lamar is still on dialysis due to kidney failure, he is showing signs of improvement. The athlete is no longer wearing an oxygen mask and is "doing great with his breathing."
