It's hard to believe it's been a decade since Carrie Underwood won the fourth season of American Idol.

Underwood commemorated the milestone yesterday by sharing a photo from the 2005 finale on Instagram, writing, "I'm forever grateful to American Idol for changing my life."

And how about those ringlets?!

Before Idol, Underwood was just a 21-year-old from Oklahoma with a dream. Then she captured the judges' attention at her audition with her rendition of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Casually dressed in bleached bell bottoms and an off-the-shoulder hot pink top, Underwood admitted she had never even been on a plane before.

Well how time flies! Take a look back at how Carrie's hair and style has transformed throughout the years:

In 2005, Underwood pulled pieces of her curly hair back and kept lots of volume for her American Idol performance of "Alone."

Later in the year, she wore an off-the-shoulder T-shirt to perform the national anthem at Game Four of the 2005 NBA Finals. Carrie kept her blond locks down and left them naturally curly.

At the 2006 CMT Music Awards, Underwood opted for a more sparkly look with some strappy heels. The award show was a big milestone for the artist, who won the award for Breakthrough Video of the Year. She confessed on stage, "This is my very first acceptance speech, so I made a list."

At the 2007 American Music Awards, Underwood continued to take the music world by storm, taking home three awards. Carrie kept her hair pinned back in an updo, the better to show off the detailing of her hot white mini dress.

Later in the year, Carrie looked like a Greek Goddess in a floor length red gown with her hair sleekly pulled back at Movies Rock. Très chic!

In 2008, she returned to her roots for Idol Gives Back, in a sophisticated purple and green gown.

In 2009, Carrie was toning down her trademark American Idol curls with sleeker waves both on and off the red carpet.

In 2010, Underwood glowed in a hot pink number at the CMT awards. A style icon had been born!

Then in 2013, again at the Grammys, Underwood adorned her Roberto Cavalli gown with $31 million worth of bling!

Now in 2015, not only is Underwood an accomplished artist who's won seven Grammys, she's a wife and a new mom!

The artist can be found these days supplementing her glamourous looks with hockey jerseys to support her hubby, Mike Fisher, and casual yet polished workout gear, which she happened to design herself!
