Most major red carpets are competitive by nature—stars trying to best each other in couture—but the 2015 Met Gala was an all-out style showdown. Call it a really fancy (and somewhat friendly) fight night.
Quite a few celebs went for shock and awe with naked dresses, which to be fair, totally works. Here's looking at you (all of you, that is) Kim Kardashian, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jennifer Lopez. Meanwhile, others knew the real way to make a statement was to sport supersize accessories (Well played, Sarah Jessica Parker).

Then, of course, there was Rihanna, who actually shut down the carpet so she and her massive Guo Pei train—complete with four handlers—could get up the steps. Size matters, people.
Not to be outdone, Beyoncé went for the fashionably late ploy—arriving over an hour after everyone else in, well, next to nothing. Anticipation is everything, folks.
But let's not forget some stars who looked absolutely breathtaking without all the hoopla. We're talking about celebs like Kate Hudson (in Michael Kors), Lily Aldridge (in Carolina Herrera) and Kerry Washington (in Prada). Those stars (and designers) debuted classic looks that were—and here's an important note—incredible interpretations of the night's theme.
So bravo, ladies! You certainly made it a night to remember.
