Are Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger headed for a split after little more than a year of marriage?
Amid speculation that the two are planning to pull the plug on their romance, E! News has learned that the pair's relationship is still on the rocks, although the Nickelback rocker and the "Hello Kitty" singer, who wed in July 2013, have yet to make a decision as to whether to call it quits.
"Things still aren't good," a source tells E! News of the couple. "But Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out. They don't like Chad, but she's already been through one painful divorce and they don't want to see her going through another unless there's no other option. Also, she and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug."

Lavigne celebrated her 30th birthday last month sans her 39-year-old hubby and earlier this week, Kroeger hit up Hollywood hotspot Bar Marmont where he was photographed without his wedding ring.
Avril's "a bit lost right now," the source explained of the singer, who found herself on the receiving end of criticism following the release of her latest music video for her single "Hello Kitty". "Her career isn't in the best place and she's trying to figure out what she wants for her future. She's trying to write music and she paints, but her life is in limbo."
One thing that could possibly save the couple's marriage? Avril's dreams to become a mom.
"Motherhood is something she really wants for herself," the source said. "So this thing with Chad, it's going to go one of two ways. Either they're going to get rid of each other or there's a shot they might try to have a baby to save the marriage. My bet is they end up splitting."
Last month, an insider told E! News that the musicians have been "fighting a lot" and are "having a lot of issues."
The two met when they were collaborating on Avril's album, but their efforts were met with less than stellar sales, which only created problems for the couple. "[Now that] the album didn't do as well as they had hoped…they're finding that they're not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things," the source said.
In addition to their professional issues, the two have been breaking their "marriage rules" after previously vowing to never go out to nightclubs or drink without each other.
"There's jealousy on both sides," the source added. "She flirts, he flirts. She's very insecure to begin with."
Avril and Chad got engaged in August 2012 following a whirlwind six-month courtship.
The two said "I do" in the South of France less than one year later, and in true "rock and roll" fashion, the pair partied with their closest pals for four days straight.
