When asked about the pressures associated with Hollywood and fame, the singer gave some insight on the words of wisdom he received that he would pass along to them.
"Something that I heard from someone I looked up to was, ‘watch the people around you and learn from their mistakes so you don't make the same,'" he told E! News Saturday at the G-Star RAW X Bionic event in New York City.
"I just held on to that and any time I saw a celebrity I really looked up to screw up, I just was like ‘all right, I am not going to do that or try my best ability to avoid that,' so it's just a learning tool."
Speaking of the pressures of fame, after Gomez resurfaced following her decision to take some time off from her tour, it was revealed that she spent a couple of weeks in rehab to help her move past her breakup with Bieber.
Although Joe didn't mention whether he has a thing for the "Boyfriend" crooner's music, he couldn't help but gush over Gomez when we asked if he is a fan of hers.
"I am! I am!," he said. "I mean her career been great and she is going to succeed and I want her to succeed and I want her to be happy!"
The "Come & Get It" crooner has certainly been looking happy lately as she hit the red carpet at a few events this year.
A source told E! News "She's never been better. She's strong and great," since completing her rehab stint.
