Whether you love it or hate it, "selfie" will go down in history, because Oxford Dictionary has named it the word of the year. No, seriously.

For those who are unsure of what a selfie really is, the dictionary defines it as, "A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website." (Yes, it's in the dictionary.)

However, selfies would not be what they are today if it weren't for the dedicated celebs in Hollywood who devote themselves to taking the perfect self-portrait.

Stars have shared tons of selfies in the past year through both Instagram and Twitter, and whether it be Justin Bieber's abs, Miley Cyrus' half-naked bod, Amanda Bynes busting cleavage or—the most important one of all—Kim Kardashian's booty, Tinseltown's biggest names are arguably responsible for this "selfie" honor.

So before you press that reverse camera button on your smartphone and pucker up with your best duckface, let's take a look back at some celebs' best selfies...

The moment Nick Jonas made us do a double-take. Hello, muscles! "I never do this but... Healthy living and fitness update. Post workout picture. #diabeticinshape #2.0," he wrote.

Rihanna is definitely one selfie queen, and never shied away from showing off her amazing bikini bod on Instagram.

Amanda Bynes became a regular selfie-taker, and although each one was worth an eyebrow raise, these busty pics took the cake.

Biebs made it clear that there were very few things he needed to master his perfect selfie: a dumbfounded look on his face and no shirt on.

If Miley's not twerking, she's posing for a selfie. In this case (and many others), the pop singer flaunted her tiny frame for her photo op.

OK, so this isn't technically a selfie, but Beyoncé's play on the whole thing is pretty creative.

And then there's Kim's "big middle finger to the world," which undoubtedly takes the selfie cake...(cake, cake, cake, cake).
