American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is back on reality TV—this time on a very different kind of show.

The "Velvet Teddy Bear" will be a contestant on the next season of NBC's The Biggest Loser, E! News has confirmed. The new season debuts this fall.

The 34-year-old, who won season two of Idol (beating out Clay Aiken) back in 2003, has struggled with obesity. After a performance on Idol in 2010, he talked about losing approximately 80 pounds through a vegan diet and regular exercise.

Aiken is rumored to be in consideration for a judging position on Idol in the next season (along with fellow alums Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert), although Fox sources tell us everything is up in the air now that Fox reality boss Mike Darnell has vacated his post. Studdard has not been offered a judging spot as of yet, per our sources. However, the scheduling of Biggest Loser would not be a conflict with Idol.

Studdard married Surata Zuri McCants in 2008, and the couple separated in 2011. Their divorce was finalized in April 2012.

The most recent season of The Biggest Loser saw the return of tough-as-nails trainer Jillian Michaels and allowed teenagers to compete for the first time outside of the ranch. Season 15 will air Tuesdays this fall.
