From Beyoncé in Givenchy to Jessica Biel in Versace, there are tons of glamorous moments from past Met Gala red carpets. So when we asked designer, Rachel Roy, about her all-time favorite looks it was no surprise she had quite a few. "For me, it's the Oscars of fashion," she gushed. As we count down to tonight's exciting event, lets take a quick trip down memory road with the designer.
What was a favorite fashion moment from past Met Galas?
Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady from 2008. She wore this pink Versace dress and just looked like perfection. Plus, he's such a good-looking guy and you can really see the love between them in person. You really get the sense they're best friends. They looked luminous in pictures but to really see it in person— I really enjoyed that!
Is there anyone you look forward to seeing every year?
There's a woman named Linda Fargo who works at Bergdorf Goodman. Linda comes in the most outrageous outfits that speaks exactly to the theme. Every year she's over-the-top and the epitome of fashion and a lot of times we don't get that in America. So for me, Linda is someone that's a trailblazer in fashion. I look forward to seeing what she's wearing because she's so respectful to the theme yet she really takes it there!
Who are you most excited to see?
When I see Karl Largerfeld it's like seeing a movie star or a rock star! He's such a completely talented man yet so humble. I love seeing Karl!
What was your favorite part of your first Met Gala?
The first time I went to the Met I didn't know what to expect so I actually kind of downplayed it and went with something simple and elegant. The next day I had a huge picture in Women's Wear Daily! It felt completely undeserved but I thought maybe I am going in the right direction! It was kind of a Cinderella moment.
