Can't commit to either long or short hair? Neither can certain style-savvy celebs, who are getting the best of both worlds with a long bob, or lob as it is known among hair aficionados.

Jennifer Lawrence is the latest leading lady to hop on the hot hair hybrid trend, which can vary in length from just below the chin to a sassy shoulder-grazing ‘do. J.Law opted for the long lock version of the trend, debuting a shaggy style with loose curls and side swept bangs at Saturday's GLAAD Awards. And given the Oscar-winning actresses' new status as one of Time's 100 most influential people, we're guessing many a gal will head to the salon requesting Lawrence's cute new look!

And they'd be among good company if they did. Both Julianne Hough and Nikki Reed sheared their long locks earlier this year, but there's no time like spring—when temperatures start to rise—to lose few inches from your tresses. Of course, the beauty of the lob is that you can still pull your hair back into a pretty ponytail (often a must in warm weather!), or style it in a fancy updo, which is perfect for stars like Lawrence, Hough and Reed who need to be red carpet ready on the regular.

The lob is also the prefect option for those a little wary of trying Hollywood's other popular hairstyle, the fuss-free pixie. If you can't quite follow in the gutsy footsteps of Anne Hathaway, Maggie Gyllenhaal, or Miley Cyrus, you can ease into the look with a chin-length bob à  la model Karlie Kloss, or add a little edge to your lob with angled or layered looks, like those favored by recent lob converts, Giuliana Rancic and Jamie Lynn Spears.

The best part? Lobs work perfectly with any hair type—curly, straight, you name it! So, go ahead and cut with confidence.

What do you think of the lob? Would you try out this season?
