Vivid Entertainment has placed an indefinite DVD distribution freeze on the former reality star's sex tape, E! News has confirmed. The tape titled Baseball Mistress was originally released in 2010 following the singer's stint on Celebrity Rehab and features McCready and Roger Clemens, her MLB boyfriend at the time.
"The situation surrounding Mindy's death is so tragic and sad," Steve Hirsch, the founder of Vivid Entertainment tells E!. "We decided to stop marketing her tape as a gesture of respect."
After Mindy's death was announced, Clemens issued a statement, calling her death "sad news" and saying he heard "she was trying to get peace and direction in her life."
McCready's close friend, private investigator Danno Hanks, who recorded her final interview, has also addressed the sex tape, claiming someone forged the singer's signature on the porn contract authorizing the tape's distribution.
"What happened was, somebody got ahold of that tape and sold it to a porn producer...And Mindy told me, 'My mother found that tape,'" Hanks tells E!. "'She wanted a few bucks and sold it.' So I'm not accusing…but I'm telling you what Mindy told me and I believe her."
McCready was found dead over the weekend from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She was 37.
