If his furniture designs are as inventive as his acting often is, Brad Pitt may very well have a second career at the ready should he decide to call it quits on the big screen.

After word surfaced earlier this week that the A-lister was going to debut his own furniture collection next week in New York City, E! News spoke exclusively to Pitt's design partner, Frank Pollaro, about how their collaboration came to pass.

According to Pollaro, the duo initiated the project over four years ago and would meet at least six times a year. But ever since January 2012, when they were crystallizing the details of the collection, Pollaro said they met at Pitt's estate in Provence, France, for a week every month.

"We are both very focused thinkers and we would labor over a single small detail for hours," said the designer who specializes in handmade custom furnishings out of his New Jersey-based workshop.

"Our meetings were marathons, stretching anywhere from seven to 12 hours long, and often through the night," Pollaro continued. "We kept going with the help of some good meals and some great wines."

The furniture guru said both men are burgundy collectors, which enabled the two to share a lot of laughs during their time together.

"The pieces are not only aesthetically beautiful, but technically complex," he added. "Together, we selected the pieces from his sketchbooks, which are filled with thousands of drawings. The designs are 100 percent Brad's."

Between coparenting the large brood he shares with fiancée Angelina Jolie, it's a wonder Brad had any time to draw. But Pitt's long been drawn to the architecture and design world as anyone who knows anything about his Make It Right project building environmentally-friendly housing in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward can attest.

But Pollaro said it's all in a day's work for the Hollywood star who worked closely with his mentor to nail the final product.

"I helped with finessing the details, engineering, and material selection, but ultimately Brad made the final decisions. He is a thoughtful designer who understands physics and balance. I admire his work."

Of the pieces, Pollaro said he loves the dynamic base bubinga dining table, which "is a design that is totally new and will stand the test of time." He also noted that he loves all the designs equally so much it's like "asking someone to choose their favorite child."

The furniture pieces are all limited edition, signed and numbered and available exclusively from Pollaro. The big unveiling is set to take place Nov. 13 through 15 in the Big Apple where prototypes will be on display. Those looking to buy can place their orders at the exhibition.

But if you ask the designer, the actor plans to stick with the furniture biz for some time to come.

"We will continue to work together, releasing new designs as Brad's schedule permits. This is just the beginning," said Pollaro.

The Pitt-Pollaro website launches on Nov. 11.
