From The View to her own synonymous talk show, Sherri Shepherd is no stranger to daytime TV.

But that doesn't mean she won't take a piece of advice or two from her fellow daytime television icons, especially one of the genre's most famous hosts of all time: Oprah Winfrey.

"When I talk to her, I feel like Oprah does not waste conversation," Sherri exclusively told E! News' Carolina Bermudez. "And I feel like Oprah will give you some nuggets, and she's not gonna say, 'These are nuggets,' but it's up to you to take it as such. So, definitely, when I talk to her, she always has something for me."

Oprah became a daytime TV icon with her syndicated talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 seasons from 1986 to 2011. And while Sherri—who took over The Wendy Williams Show's former time slot in September 2022—doesn't chat with the A Wrinkle in Time star often, she is always delighted by what Oprah has to say.

"Oprah will text me and say, 'I was watching this,' and 'This was very funny,' or, 'This is really good,' or, 'Your ratings are great,'" she continued. "She will give me encouragement, so it's really surreal to know Oprah's keeping track of the show, and I call her when I need advice. If I'm not sure of something."

Oprah isn't the only powerful woman who's made an impact on the star over the years, as she shared the screen with legendary journalist Barbara Walters for several years on The View.

"I connected with Barbara's sense of humor," Sherri said of the late news anchor, who passed away in December 2022. "I think that not enough people really got to see what a bawdy sense of humor Barbara had."

And while Barbara would show up for her co-star at her latest TV and movie premieres, Sherri joked that her support came in small (but hilarious) doses.

"She would support my movies, but she would leave, right in the middle of it, and announce, 'I'm leaving,'" she explained, adding, "Or even my sitcom, she came, and we weren't even through the first scene and she's like, 'I'm leaving,' like, 'I've supported you enough.'"
