Indeed, this girl is on fire—for a good cause.
Alicia Keys drummed up a staggering $2.9 million for her AIDS-relief charity Thursday at a celebrity-studded affair at New York City's famed Apollo Theater that also included Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg, according to published reports.
The Black Ball Redux benefited her charity Keep a Child Alive, which supports HIV/AIDS outreach in India and Africa, and Oprah Winfrey was honored for her work with The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.
But the night's big moment came when billionaire Stewart Rahr bid $250,000 for a trip to South Africa accompanied by Keys—and he also pledged $1 million to her foundation.
Whether it's racking up hit records, Grammys or charity funds, Keys certainly knows how to bring it on!
