Anthony Bourdain is opening up about his divorce from mixed martial artist Ottavia Busia.
Married for nine years, Bourdain and Busia are going their separate ways amicably. "My wife and I live, have lived, very separate lives for years," Bourdain told People magazine. "There's no drama here. We get along really, really well and it's not a big lifestyle change happening here."
The 60-year-old No Reservations host shares one daughter, Ariane, with Busia. He confessed that he and his soon-to-be ex-wife were on different paths as a result of their very different careers, which was "really tough." Having to be away from his daughter and wife for "about 250 days a year" to work on projects such as Parts Unknown and No Reservations became a strain. For better or for worse, it's what his daughter "is used to."
"You know, this is a girl who knows her parents are weird," he explained. "We have somehow managed to raise a very healthy, very happy, self-assured little girl who knows she's loved, who finds her parents entertaining."
Despite their divorce, Bourdain and Busia are dedicated to co-parenting. "As a family, I think we've done a really good job and we're doing a really good job and would like to keep it that way" Bourdain said.
"As a marriage, clearly it's not ideal but there's no injured party here, nobody's angry, nobody feels like the injured party, nobody feels like a victim. So we'll proceed like that."
After the pair's split news broke last week, a source told E! News that they're going to remain friends. "They are still very supportive of each other," the insider said. The news also didn't come as a surprise to some, as a source told Page Six that they had been "separated for a while."
