Watch: How to Throw the Best Olympic-Themed Dinner Party

Olympic fever has officially hit the United States!

With one day left until the opening ceremonies kick off live from Rio, families across the country are pulling out their red, white and blue and getting ready to cheer on their favorite athletes.

But since the Summer Games only happen once every four years, perhaps it's the perfect time to go big and throw an Olympics-themed party. Lucky for us, we have an expert to provide all the best tips.

Camila Alves, who is serving as E! News' Lifestyle Correspondent for the Rio Olympics, recently shared her fun, affordable and easy tricks to an entertaining celebration. Grab a pen and paper because you may just need to take some notes.

"You have to make it fun. You have to pick a theme especially for the Olympics," Camila shared with E! News. "I saw something the other day that I was inspired by. For the outside of your house or in the entrance when guests are coming in, you can get hula hoops and use string lights around them and then hang them from the trees like the Olympic symbol."

Of course you have to have tasty food while you watch athletes from all around the world compete for gold. And with the games being held in Rio, perhaps it's time to explore some Brazilian food.

With help from Forno de Minas, Camila was able to cook some delicious items including guava paste and dulce de leche that holds a special place in her heart.

"This one I have a soft spot for. My grandfather used to make it," she explained. "It's kind of a staple of Brazil. It tastes really good."

And while Camila fully supports you getting creative in the kitchen, if you're trying new recipes, perhaps it's best to prepare ahead of the party. After all, not everyone is perfect on the first try.

"If you're trying different recipes, you want to make sure you do them before. Don't try to make the day of because you're going to drive yourself crazy," she joked. "You are going to get messy. You want to give yourself some lead room."

Between tasty food, eye-catching décor, official TEAM USA gear and perhaps some Olympic-themed music—hey Katy Perry's "Rise"—there's not much more left to do than sit back and watch the world unite.

"I think the Olympics is one of the only events where even though countries are competing, they unite together in order to do the same thing," Camila shared. "It's a fun thing to see the best athletes from every country. It's a very, very special time."
