Beth's back! And Hot Paul! The Orphan Black season four premiere took us back to the beginning—by flashing back to the events that happened just before we met Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) and her Seestras (also Tatiana Maslany) in the series premiere.

Throughout the first hour of the new season, we met a new clone—the mysterious M.K., who will remain a strong presence throughout the new season—and traced Beth's investigation into Neolution and the clone conspiracy that happened before her suicide.

If you've never watched Orphan Black before, first of all what is wrong with you? And second of all why are you reading this? Go back and watch seasons one through three (or one and two, then the season three premiere and finale) and come back so you know who the heck we're going to talk about.

Caught up? Good. Now, the premiere: The entire episode was a flashback, meaning we were seeing things that happened before Beth's suicide—and we learned several things that will clearly be important as we investigate the evil Neolutionists and what the heck is going on this year. Said things included:

BBC America

-Beth had suspected Paul of spying on her, and their relationship was very tense before her suicide

-Beth was working with another clone, M.K., who knows a lot about the Neolutionists and likes to wear a sheep mask to shield her identity (like Dolly the clone, funny!)

-Beth and Art had a slightly less than professional relationship—in that they totally made out. WTF?

-Beth met with Dr. Leekie, who totally knew she was a Leda clone (meaning he totally knew about the others, too)

-There's a Neo conspiracy afoot in law enforcement—and a high-ranking cop was involved

-Back in the present, M.K. called Sarah to warn her that she wasn't safe anymore—so the Clone Club will likely learn more about the new clone in upcoming episodes

Tell us: What did you think of the flashback-heavy episode? Are you excited to get back to basics?

Orphan Black airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on BBC America.
