Lighting is everything.

We can't all spend our evenings walking the red carpet, but we can fake a luminous effect with a makeup job well done. Less is more when it comes to summer makeup, even if you have somewhere important to be and are stepping it up. However, looking natural without overdoing is not particularly a cinch. You're probably sweating more than usual, so a bohemian-inspired look is the way to go.

For a natural-but-fancy makeup look that is dewy and not overdone, celeb makeup artist Jenn Streicher breaks down Emily Blunt's effortless boho look.

Step 1: To start, prep skin with a nourishing high-quality moisturizer, like Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream.

Step 2: Follow up with a thirst-quenching eye treatment, like Kate Somerville Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm, that will help to nix concealer caking before it starts. "It goes on cool and is formulated to hydrate and replenish the eye area," shared Streicher.

Step 3: For makeup, start by applying a good primer to just the t-zone area to lock in foundation.

Step 4: Blend a lightweight foundation, like Laura Mercier's Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation, that will reflect light and blur imperfections with a breathable coverage.

Step 5: To get a tan feel like Emily's, apply a bronzer, like Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Bakes Powder in Shade 3, to the cheekbones. "I also gently brushed this onto her decollete and shoulders because it has a nice illumination to it and leaves the skin looking radiant," revealed Streicher.

Step 6: For a summer eye, follow Emily's lead and keep it super-simple and neutral. Start by smudging a grey cream shadow all over the eyelid up into the crease.

Step 7: Next, apply a nude shade into the crease. "It's a nude shade but has a slight, peach undertone, so it nicely warms up the grey-pearl hue," Streicher said.

Step 8: To finish the look, a nude-pink lipstick, swiped on the lips and a a pop of rosy blush, like Dior DiorBlush Vibrant Colour Powder Blush in Lucky Pink, will give you a fresh-flushed look that screams summer-ready (without over-doing it).
