Empire Killed Off One of Its Craziest Trouble-Making Guest Stars

Find out how the character in question kicked the bucket

Things were never going to go well for Mimi (Marisa Tomei) when she went from Empire ally (at the beginning of season two) to Empire boss (and Lucious Lyon's mortal enemy) in the second half of the year—but the way she was killed off was truly bananas in the most Empire way possible. (It was a super-soapy, drama-filled demise, duh.)

No, she didn't succumb to cancer, and no, she didn't actually kill herself in the bath, like it appeared—her wife, Camilla (Naomi Campbell), killed her when Mimi discovered Camilla had cheated on her with Hakeem (thanks to Hakeem secretly taping their hookup and every horrible thing she'd said about her wife).

But that's not all—Lucious found out what happened, and threatened to reveal the truth—that she was a murderer—unless she killed herself, too. The episode ended with Camilla swigging from the same bottle of poison she'd just fed her wife, turning this into a murder-suicide (but actually murder-murder, since Lucious blackmailing her into killing herself is essentially murder).

So we've officially lost one crazy guest star, and have probably lost another (we'll know Camilla's fate for sure next week) in the craziest, most Empire way possible. Good to know that Empire left us for a few months, but it didn't change.

We'll now have to deal with plenty of fallout from the event, including: Hakeem cheating on his girlfriend, Laura, what happens to the company after both Camilla and Mimi's deaths, and if Lucious will have to face any consequences for what he's done. (But, TBH, he hasn't really before, so why start now?)

What did you think of Empire's murder (and probable suicide)?

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
