Too hot on the red carpet? Not for E! Online's Marc Malkin. He's at ground zero gathering smoking-hot A-list scoop for you. Read on for all of it!

2:40 p.m.: Without fail, the Emmys always seem to fall on what feels like the hottest day of the year. But the temp isn't the only hot thing on the red carpet. There is $5 million worth of diamonds on display, according to Sally Morrison of the Diamond Information Center. She says the big trends include cuffs on both wrists or multiple bangles. "Big earrings and huge bracelets," Morrison says.

I see my first celeb of the day. It's Lauren Conrad. She just scurried down the carpet in a fab midnight-blue number. Fans in the bleachers scream in unison, "We love you, Lauren Conrad!"

Here come three of the show's five hosts: Heidi Klum (in a shiny black-and-silver gown), Tom Bergeron and Howie Mandel. Diamonds really are in. If I'm not mistaken, Mandel is wearing a diamond and silver loop in his left ear.

Regular ol' folks are arriving, too. But they can't get too close to the celebs. Red velvet ropes and an army of security peeps keep them far away from the stars-only red carpet walkway.

2:49 p.m.: Joey! Joey! Joey! The crowd is chanting again. It's Joey Fatone.

3:20 p.m.: Whoa! Mary Tyler Moore just took a fall. Yikes. But she's all right. She quickly gets back on here feet and is OK! She is a trouper.

Ashley Jensen, who's nominated for Extras, just flew in from London and says she's actually enjoying this crazy-hot weather because "it was raining for the last two weeks" in England. And she hasn't prepared an acceptance speech because—guess what?—she's not expecting to win. "Seriously, I'm just happy and honored to be nominated."

And honestly, I totally believe her.

Holland Taylor! I'm sorry, but she's awesome. What's gonna happen when Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke have their baby? "He can't really take any time off," Taylor says. "But we do get, like, a week off every three weeks or so. He is such a wonderful father!"

Mary Tyler Moore is back. She's returned to the red carpet. She really can make it, after all!

4:44 p.m.: There is an announcement booming over the red carpet. "Please take your seats," he booms. "Tom Hanks is coming into the theater...for those talking and saying hello, please say your goodbyes. There is plenty of time for partying later on."

Hanks isn't the very last to arrive. There's Matthew Rhys from Brothers & Sisters, the very hot Jon Hamm, Laurence Fishburne, Diddy and his mom Janice Combs, Sally Field and...Ron Jeremy? WTF!

Oh, Hayden Panettiere is rushing, almost running, down the carpet. She snaps to one of the many people sprinting with her, "Please don't make me feel more stressed than I already am!"

OK, now back to some of those conversations I had on the carpet.

Olivia Wilde told me the cast and crew of the nominated House had a precelebration last night. "We went for drinks and danced and danced and danced," she said.

But there wasn't too much drinking. "I didn't want to be sweating tequila today," she laughed.

Kristin Chenoweth's hot younger boyfriend, Charlie McDowell, helped her get ready. "But I really don't know what I was doing," McDowell said.

Chenoweth giggled, "Isn't he the cutest?"

OK, I gotta run. Show is starting.
