Watch: Sarah Paulson Is Wigging Out on "American Crime Story"

Sarah Paulson really wigged out for her work in FX's upcoming series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

She plays prosecutor Marcia Clark in the Ryan Murphy-directed anthology.

"I had four different wigs—four different hair looks, all of which are sort of mini events," Paulson told me while promoting her new drama, Carol (in theaters Nov. 20). "They asked [when we wrapped], 'Is there anything you want?' I said I did want my Chia Pet wig, as I would call it. The one that looks like broccoli sprouting from my head. I'm going to keep it in a box and sometimes take it out and pet it."

She actually named each of the wigs. "Winston was the first," Paulson said. "Gerard was the second. Miss Perfect was the last wig. We like liked her best so I just called her Miss Perfect. She was the only one that had a female name. The rest were all boy names."

The third was Shorty Pants. "She was a little too short for me," Paulson said.

Even though they finished shooting two weeks ago, Paulson has yet to see a "single frame" of the series.

"Ryan had been very much wanting me to watch it while we were shooting…[But] I thought it would be really dangerous for me to watch it because Marcia obviously has a very specific look and I didn't want my own vanity as an actress get in the way of me making certain choices that I might make correct for the character but me personally as an actress I might bristle against," she explained.

The much-anticipated series premieres Feb. 2, 2016. Cuba Gooding Jr. stars as Simpson with John Travolta playing defense attorney Robert Shapiro and David Schwimmer as his partner, Robert Kardashian. The ensemble also includes Selma Blair as Kris Kardashian and Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran.
