Twitter wants you to express how you really feel.

Starting today, the social media service is switching out their star icon to "favorite" a tweet, and replacing it with a heart to "like" a tweet.

The reason? According to the company's announcement: "You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite."

Very true, Twitter. Thank you for keeping our proclamations of affection in check.

Hearts have already been a feature on Periscope, and now they're rolling out to Twitter and Vine too.

"The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people," according to Twitter.

Honestly, Twitter, if you're trying to tell us something: we get it. We're on your site constantly. It's time we take things to the next level.

Granted, the heart only signifies a "like"—for now—but we know deep down the "love" word could be applied to, right?

It's OK, Twitter. We see what you're trying to tell us here.

The hearts have already made their debut today on Twitter for iOS and Android, twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on the Vine Android app and website. They're coming soon to Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac.
