Get back to black this season in a fresh way by investing in luxurious statement pieces that will instantly transform your seasonal wardrobe. Whether you are dressing in head to toe black or punching it up with dark lace accents as seen on the runway at Rodarte, textured black investment pieces are sure to make the right impression.

The key is to go for separates in sharp, stunning fabrics like this Robert Rodriguez Fringe Skirt (available at Macy's). Jamie Chung loves that a versatile piece like this works well for day or night, giving each new outfit an edge that feels distinctly modern.

For Jamie's tips on styling the black modernism trend for fall, check out how she integrates this leather skirt into her wardrobe for a night out, dressed down for weekends off and with classic silhouettes for professional meetings.

"I love playing with layers, and a structured, classic trench coat is an instant add-on that makes the entire outfit look professional," said Jamie. "For a more conservative silhouette, I like to layer a colorful, silk tunic over this fringed skirt and cinch it with a leopard belt for a bit of shape. I like that the tunic is a little longer, just revealing a hint of the fringe on the skirt. It's less distracting but still fashionable."

"I like the idea of leather on leather for date night," she mentioned. "It's edgy but still flirty. When wearing an all-black ensemble, it's important to have well-tailored separates like this skirt and jacket that define your figure. To contrast the pitch-black leather, I pulled in a strappy deep V camisole that also balances out the dramatic tassels on the skirt. The metallic heels add a bit of color, which keeps the look from coming off as too serious."

"I love this look because it's comfortable," Jamie shared. "If I'm wearing a luxe leather piece on the weekend, the rest of the pieces need to be more casual, like a grey cotton T-shirt and an army jacket. I also keep the look daytime appropriate by wearing flat boots instead of heels to tone down the sultry skirt."
