Rachel Dolezal says she "cried" after reading Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair article because she related to "being misunderstood."

In her sit-down with Today's Savannah Guthrie, the former president of the NAACP Spokane chapter explained how she reacted to the E! star's transition.

"Just yesterday I finally had a chance to read Caitlyn Jenner's piece in the magazine and I cried," Dolezal shared.

"I cried because I resonated with some of the themes of isolation, of being misunderstood. To not know if you have a conversation with somebody will that relationship then end because they have seen you as one way?"

Dolezal also revealed that she is bisexual and feels that her personal life is currently "under siege."

In a separate interview with Matt Lauer, Dolezal said that there's "no biological proof" that her white parents are, in fact, her mother and father.

"I know who raised me," she said. "I haven't had a DNA test. There's been no biological proof that Larry and Ruthanne are my biological parents. I'm not necessarily saying that I can prove they're not," she added, "but I don't know that I can actually prove they are. I mean the birth certificate was issued a month and a half after I'm born. Certainly there were no medical witnesses to my birth. It was in the woods."

She continued, "There have been moments of some level of creative nonfiction where I've had to kind of explain or justify some of the timelines and logistics of my life in a way that made sense to others."
