Call the doctor, we've got a severe case of dehydration on our hands!

We have no more H2O left in our bodies, because we cried it all out during The Vampire Diaries season six finale last night. In between all the death and destruction during the intense hour, everyone had to say goodbye to Elena (Nina Dobrev) as Kai (Christopher Wood) linked her to Bonnie (Kat Graham), meaning that as long as Bonnie was alive, Elena would be stuck in a "sleeping beauty" coma, preserved perfectly until Bonnie died.

While everyone immediately assumed that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) would kill Bonnie to get the love of his life back now, he surprised even himself by saving his BFF and saying goodbye to Elena...for the next 60-70 years, at least.

Damon put Elena's body in a casket, and before Bonnie could seal it shut in the Salvatore mausoleum, everyone held Elena's hand and let her into their thoughts to say their individual goodbyes to the girl that changed all their lives. It was beautiful. It was nostalgic. It was surprisingly inspiring and uplifting while also gut wrenchingly sad. In other words, perfect.

But nothing could top Damon's goodbye to Elena, as the two decided to forgo words and instead share a dance that immediately cemented itself as one of the best Delena moments of the entire series.

"I was there on set that day and people were crying watching it," executive producer Caroline Dries tells E! News. "It was so pretty. Who knew Nina was such a good dancer? [The Originals showrunner] Michael Narducci, it was his wife who choreographed that."

Watch the perfect moment below and prepare to cry all over again:

But why did the TVD writers want Delena to share a dance in their last scene together?

"It was so romantic and it brings that fantasy, gothic, romance element that is unique to our show, like Beauty and the Beast," Dries says. "It was more beautiful than anything you could say and more romantic than them kissing. The imagery connected them in a profound way. And dance is a motif in their relationship, starting with the Miss Mystic Falls dance, and they danced in the Salvatore living room in front of the fireplace before they got together, so this was the perfect way to end their story for now. It really worked out."

But is this goodbye dance the ultimate Delena moment from the entire series? Executive producer Julie Plec picked her favorite, and it's...

The Miss Mystic Falls dance!

"Miss Mystic Falls, without a doubt, is my favorite," Plec tells E! News. "Damon stepping in when Stefan's [Paul Wesley] M.I.A. off having a ripper breakdown, I just love that scene. I love the music, I love the romance of it. It's probably without a doubt one of my favorite scenes of the series as a whole, and certainly my favorite Damon and Elena moment."
