UPDATE: We caught up with Gregory Russell, the celeb hairstylist who gave Kim her chic angled bob after she arrived in Paris.

"The whole [dye] process took about 8 hours," Russell shared exclusively with E! News. "She's always wanted to try platinum and this seemed to be great timing."

And Russell has a secret for keeping Kim's lightened locks super soft: "It's really important to be gentle and to condition appropriately," he explained. "I recommend to all my blonde clients to use a raw coconut oil in the hair the night before washing. It helps to heal any damage and repair fragile ends."

Guess Kim's going to have some sweet smelling hair over the next few weeks!

In case you haven't heard by now, Kim Kardashian's gone platinum (like really, really blond) for Paris Fashion Week!

The reality star stepped out in the City of Light today looking, well, noticeably lighter in the locks. The change is pretty dramatic: Kim's once-raven locks are now an ultra-cool, ashy platinum blond. The star shared a pic of her beachy post-bleach look with followers on Instagram: It turns out that hairstylist Gregory Russell (of the celeb-fave Andy Lecompte Salon) is responsible for Kim's chic long bob (which she's wearing brushed back in Paris), while in-demand colorist Lorri Goddard got her hair to the perfect shade of platinum in one shot. We repeat: One shot.

"So I went platinum," Kim wrote alongside the snapshot. "I have the best team! Thank you to @joycebonelli for being my inspiration and introducing me to @GregoryRussellHair who cut my hair & put this team together! Thank you @LorriGoddard_ who dyed my hair & got this color in one try! Not an easy task!" (We bet!)

A source tells E! News that the color switch-up was "apparently just for fun" and that "she wanted a change."

Kim's super-blond debut follows two other times she's gone blond before (in 2009 and 2013—although not quite this light), and sister Khloé Kardashian's blond-again moment, which happened earlier this week.

Matrix celebrity stylist George Papanikolas, who famously took Kim's hair to a buttery blond hue in 2013, gave E! News the scoop about how the star might maintain her even-lighter locks.

"The look is definitely shocking, but after seeing more pictures, I think that it is super modern and edgy. I know she loves having her hair lighter and always loves to play with her hair color, so for her it's just another fashion accessory," Papanikolas said. "With this hair color, It's very important to stick to a strict 3 to 4 week root touch-up schedule. Waiting any longer than that will cause a yellow banding in the hair. You will also need regular pastel toners—such as Matrix Color Sync Pastel Toner—to keep the brassiness at bay."

"I'm really looking forward to seeing how she [wears] this new bold look.  Hopefully she keeps it for a while," he added.

We're digging the daring hair too—and plus, we know Kim's up for the maintenance.
