Jack Black tried to shut down the Oscars just as they were beginning, and it was as epic and awesome as he is.

In case you've been living under a rock... a rock n' roll rock... you may not have realized that the Bernie star is one of the greatest rock gods of our time.

His band Tenacious D has been killing it at acoustic metal for years, and the comedic actor has found ways to insert his gift into as many projects as possible. Here are some of the highlights of his badass musical career!

1. His band Tenacious D is so epic they have literally written "the greatest and best song in the world."

2. He turned up the sex factor with a Marvin Gaye cover in High Fidelity.

3. This isn't the rock god's first Oscars. Jack Black, Will Ferrell, and John C. Reilly had the audience on the edge of their seats at the 2007 Oscars with an amazing musical montage.

4. Plus, don't forget about his dramatic "Get Off the Stage" duet with Will Ferrell at the 2004 Oscars.

5. Quick reminder that the actor killed it covering Queen on American Idol. Seriously, forget about the guy actually competing on the show, Jack Black will always overshadow you. Sorry, Casey Abrams.

6. Oh, there was also that time he covered Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" on American Idol. Which we can all agree is maybe one of the hardest karaoke songs of all time, right?!

7. We love Conan O'Brien (and Slash?), but he stands no chance in a battle of the axes with Mr. Black. Watch them duel!

8. We're not joking when we say that School Of Rock is one of the greatest rock comedies of all time. It can certainly hold a candle to classics like This Is Spinal Tap and The Blues Brothers. Watch J.B. shred in front of some rockin' little kids!

9. We love watching the Tenacious D frontman cover some of his favorite rock icons. His take on "War Pigs" is one of the best out there—feel the passion, feel the metal!

10. He can get serious with a hardcore, yet fitting cover of the National Anthem. What's more patriotic than soaring rock vocals?!

11. He has even found ways to channel his powerful voice into church hymns in Bernie.

12. If you've never celebrated a life milestone by listening to his "Happy Birthday" cover, you're truly missing out!

Rock on, J.B.!
