After a whole season of Geraldo Rivera confirming our suspicions that he's kind of the worst, former Entertainment Tonight anchor Leeza Gibbons managed to take it all in the season finale of Celebrity Apprentice.
While Geraldo managed a respectable $146,000 in vacation packages along with the line, "I've shown that an old guy can still get it up," Leeza totally smoked him by raising $324,000 with some help from Olivia Newton-John and a song from Xanadu.
Of course, the final challenge wasn't the only factor in determining the winner. Both Geraldo and Leeza had the chance to plead their case in front of Donald Trump, and neither one was afraid to play a little dirty. Leeza stressed the fact that she had won 8 out of 11 challenges, and had never been called back to the boardroom, compared to Geraldo being called back multiple times.
The other contestants were kind of split in favor of both Leeza and Geraldo. While Leeza was clearly ahead in challenge wins and lack of fights with fellow competitors, Geraldo's fundraising abilities were extremely impressive, and they each had some pros and cons.
In his announcement of the winner, Trump stressed that Leeza had always led with kindness, as opposed to Geraldo's ruthlessness. "You're tough, you're smart, you're brilliant in so many different ways," he told her, before announcing that it was Leeza whose charity, Leeza's Care Connection, which helps families dealing with Alzheimers, would be receiving the $250,000.
Trump also said that he was "surprised" that she made it this far, and to that, Leeza responded, "Never underestimate a woman with passion who knows where she's going and what she wants." Leeza is the first female winner since Joan Rivers, who also received a touching tribute tonight from daughter Melissa Rivers.
As for the fight between Vivica A. Fox and Kenya Moore over the phone incident, there's still no conclusion. Guess we'll never know! The real question is, will we ever care?
