Remember the little girl in Missy Elliott's music videos?
Her name is Alyson Stoner, and she was just 10 years old when she first danced for Missy in "Work It" back in 2002. That little girl is all grown up now, but she hasn't forgotten the choreography! So, in honor of Missy's comeback and her Super Bowl XLIX performance, Alyson created this impressive 'Work It" tribute video, complete with original dancers from the videos and a new batch of coordinated kids!
Alyson, now a singer herself, was on a plane during Missy's "surprise" Super Bowl halftime experience, and she was in for quite a shock when she landed. As she tells Buzzfeed, "I turned my phone back on and received over 600 messages asking if I was there and if not, why!"
She originally got the "Work It" gig when she "showed up to a dance studio with 300 competitive little hopefuls wearing my Limited Too sweat outfit and rhinestone bandana." Alyson recalls Hi-Hat taught them the choreography and she performed it "through several rounds of cuts."
To this day, Alyson has fond memories of working with the legendary rapper. "Missy was protective and thoughtful of us kids, removing us from the mature scenes and using the clean version when we filmed," she says.
"When Missy comes on the radio or in public, I immediately pause, feel so sentimental, and start replaying memories in my head," she tells Buzzfeed.
So now that Missy's back in the game, can we expect her to reunite with her talented dancer? "From your lips to Missy's ears!" the Camp Rock star said. "I have new music with an urban/pop flare that she would tear up. Missy, let's start a new wave of music!"
