Mariah Carey has become synonymous with the holiday season, but there is apparently one thing that the singer does not want for Christmas.

E! News has learned that the pop legend has had a change of heart with regards to her annual Christmas celebration with now-estranged husband Nick Cannon and their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

"The original plan had been for the whole family to spend Christmas together in Colorado," a source told us. "However, Mariah has now asked Nick not to come."

So what was Mariah's reasoning behind the seemingly last-minute decision?

"It's based on a few things," the source explained. "For starters, they spent Thanksgiving together and fought behind the scenes. How is it healthy for the kids if both parents are technically in the same place but fighting?"

Our insider added that Carey is also feeling particular sensitive over the recent criticism over her Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting performance and some of the stops on the Asian leg of her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour.

"She holds him partially responsible for the bad press her recent performances have gotten," the source said. "She's been so stressed over the split—with the fighting and crying—it's definitely affected her state of mind, her head, her voice and her stage presence. It's rattled her."

But even though Mimi, who has touched down in Aspen, has requested her ex steer clear of the festivities this year, it looks as though nothing is set in stone (or snow).

Nick "says he's [still] coming," the source added. Carey's rep had no comment and a rep for Cannon has not yet returned a request for comment.

Only time will tell what happens between the famous duo and dem babies, but "if they do end up spending Christmas together, it will most likely be their last. It's getting too hard for her," the insider said.

An eyewitness told E! News, meanwhile, that Mariah—accompanied by a small entourage, including security—was "glowing" today in Colorado, looking gorgeous and "really positive and happy to be there."

"She was dressed to the nines as always" and "needed a hand from her security in navigating through the snow in really high platform boots. She had on full jewelry and makeup," the witness added. Carey, who's staying at the vacation home she resides in every year, paid a visit to her godmother Joan Boyce's store in town and seemed to really be enjoying herself, hanging out and drinking champagne.

Let's hope, for the whole family's sake, that the rest of the holiday is just as enjoyable.
