Warning: The next Prince William picture you see may not be the real Prince William.

Jiji Press, a well-regarded Japanese news agency, made an innocent mistake over the Thanksgiving holiday when they published a story on the royal family member visiting Japan next February.

While the facts in their story were accurate, the publication's use of photos went a little awry.

Turns out they accidently published a picture of Prince William's wax figure from the Madame Tussauds museum in New York City.

"It's a very embarrassing mistake," Jiji Press said in a correction obtained by The Japan Times. "We apologize to our subscriber newspapers and readers."

The error wasn't discovered until the following day, when a completely different staff member noticed the error.

So what was the cause of the misuse in photos? Turns out an employee who handled the pic simply overlooked the caption.

Back in the States, fans are gearing up for Prince William and Kate Middleton's special visit this coming weekend.

The palace announced the royal couple will come to Washington D.C. and New York City Dec. 7 through Dec. 9. Whether attending the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center or an NBA basketball game, the couple has a jam-packed schedule!

We'll make sure to capture it all, and double-check our photos!
