The iPhone 6 Is Bending Because People Weigh Too Much (Just Kidding, It's for Another Reason)

Because this is the thinnest Apple product ever, customers have discovered that it will warp if it's in your pocket while you are sitting down

Well, this fact doesn't make us feel too good about ourselves as a society, weight-wise.

iPhone 6 users have been reporting that their brand new phones are actually bending, and noticeably so. And it turns out that being able to bend your phone into different shapes is not a cool new feature from Apple. We repeat: your iPhone turning into a curved device is not supposed to happen.

Apparently if you put your new iPhone in your back or front pocket and sit for a long period of time, the result will be a bent and warped phone.

It's the downside of this iPhone being the lightest and thinnest yet, so blame technological advancement. Or the rising obesity rate. Whichever one you want. The iPhone 6 is just over a quarter-inch thick and it's made mostly of aluminum, which is a very flexible material.

"LCDs are made with delicate front and back glass panels. Even if they don't break, putting mechanical stress on them could affect the critical alignment between the front and back glass layers, which would then significantly affect the display performance and image quality," Raymond Soneira, a display expert and president of DisplayMate, told Wired.

So to prevent this, just stop wearing really tight pants and/or putting your phone in your pocket before sitting for extended periods of time.

Despite that bendy problem, the iPhone 6 appears to be the hardest model to break. SquareTrade put the device through rigorous testing, including submerging it in water and dropping it from a height of four feet. So you can rest easy at night knowing that you while your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus is so big you can't really get a good grip on it, it will at least survive the fall when you fumble it.

But for the love of all that is good and pure in this world, do not microwave your iPhone to charge it.

The Wave is not a real feature of iOS 8. It's a hoax. Do not put your phone in the microwave.
