Better catch those Z's while you still can, David Beckham tells Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, aka Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who is pregnant with the pair's second baby.

The 39-year-old British retired soccer star, model and father of four, who has worked with Will on past projects, recently dispersed the advice to United Kingdom's royal couple during New York Fashion Week, where he and 15-year-old son Brooklyn Beckham attended wife Victoria Beckham's spring-summer 2015 show and where the avid motorcyclist launched the Beckham for Belstaff bikerwear collection.

"William I've known for quite a few years and William is...such a great person and such a great dad, and Catherine's exactly the same, you know, she's a great mum," David said in an on-camera interview with ITV News, posted on Wednesday. "And obviously, with the commitments that they have, you know, to be a great mum and dad is pretty incredible. But they definitely need to get some more sleep before this little one arrives."

He made similar comments in an interview posted by Hello! magazine.

"They definitely need to get a little bit more sleep because jumping from one to two is a process," David said. "But I'm so happy for them, you know, they're great parents and they prove it day in and day out and with the lives that they live and obviously the commitments they have, it's obviously difficult, but their main focus will always be their children."

The royal family confirmed on Monday that Kate, 32, is pregnant. She and William, 32, are parents to son Prince George, who is 1 and is the third in line to the British throne. Upon the arrival of the new child, William's brother Prince Harry, 29, will move to No. 5.

While sleepless nights and new babies go hand-in-hand, William has taken an active dad role with George, getting up for early morning feedings. And like him, baby No. 2 will also probably enjoy some rockin' a.m. jams.

David and his wife, 40, attended Kate and William's royal wedding in April 2011. At the time, Victoria was six months pregnant with her and her husband's fourth child and first daughter, Harper, who is now 3. She and David are also parents to sons Romeo, 12, and Cruz, 9.

David told Hello! "we are all excited" about the royal baby news, citing their English heritage.

"But I don't think that they're our royal family," he added. "I think they're everyone's royal family because people are very proud of the fact that we have the royal family that we have...it's a very personal thing with them and I think that's why people love them so much."
