InstagramMariah Carey and Nick Cannon appear to be keeping their distance from one another.
After a source revealed to E! News that the singer "has started the divorce process," the couple spent their weekend far away from each other.
Carey posted photos on Instagram from an Atlanta recording studio where she was gearing up for "The Elusive Chanteuse Show." "Rehearsing!" she captioned after announcing her upcoming world tour.
A source tells E! News that Carey is organizing her entire tour out of Atlanta including the musicians and backup dancers.
Meanwhile, Cannon traveled to the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival to tackle another DJ gig. The America's Got Talent host put on a set at Muzik Pool and Bar Saturday night.
He would also join Criminal Minds actor Shemar Moore for a night out. "One of the hardest working men in the biz today…@OfficialNickCannon came out to SUPPORT and CELEBRATE my new movie," he instagrammed.
Cannon then traveled to New York City Sunday night to guest DJ at The Ainsworth NFL Kick Off Party.
Despite the buzz surrounding his troubled relationship with Carey, an insider says the DJ gigs are a priority for the star.
"His DJ gigs depend on his TV and movie schedule," a source told E! News. "That's his bread and butter. The DJ jobs work around that. Again, he doesn't need the money. He just prefers to be really busy."
Another source insisted that Cannon's career choices have played a role in the marital problems.
"This has been going on for months," a source told E! News. "He does not have to work, but he's been throwing himself into gigs and projects."
As to what's next for a Hollywood couple that seemed so in love, an insider says Carey has control.
"She's ready to pull the trigger on the divorce if it comes to that," a source said before adding no final decisions have been made.
