While the 28-year-old star isn't with child herself, the couple is expecting a baby!
A rep for Shayne and Nik clarified the confusing baby news today in a statement to E! News. "Shayne Lamas Richie and her husband Nik Richie appeared on VH1 Couples Therapy Reunion on September 3rd and although the editing made it appear Shayne is pregnant, Shayne is not pregnant," read the press release.
"Shayne and Nik are thankful to Dr. Smotrich of La Jolla IVF, as he was able to stimulate her ovaries and produce eggs which he converted to embryos," the rep continued. "Nik stated, 'Someone else is carrying our child. Shayne and I are truly excited to expand our family.'"
That means the couple is expecting a child via surrogate!
Earlier this year, Shayne suffered a miscarriage that turned into a scary near-death experience. In February, she was rushed to the hospital and doctors performed emergency surgery but couldn't save the couple's unborn child. Upon recovery, Shayne said, "Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I've cried reading the expression of generosity and warmth from everyone. I'm out of ICU at Mission Viejo Hospital. I cannot thank the medical staff here enough for not giving up on me."
