Has Michelle Dockery ever failed to impress us on the red carpet?
We certainly don't remember any fashion disasters for the Downton Abbey star.
So we're sure she'll stun at the Emmys tomorrow.
"It's beautiful," Dockery, who is nominated for her work on the Brit drama, told me last night about her dress at the 2014 Emmy Awards Performers Nominee Reception at the Pacific Design Center. "It's really special. I'm really excited. It's going to be 100 degrees so it's very cool and a bit summery."
It's also going to be a long day. "I will have a nice breakfast," Dockery said. "I like to have a good breakfast. Maybe I'll have a fry-up—an English breakfast with has browns, sausages, bacon and a little porridge because that keeps you going for about three hours."
But she'll also take some "snacks" with her to the show. "You can't actually eat anything when you're at the Emmys," Dockery said. "I'll have those little energy bars with me."
Asked if she'll also have a bottle of water on hand, she smiled, "Yes! That would be very funny."
Downton Abbey caused a lot of giggles and was an internet sensation recently when it released a publicity photo showing Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) and his daughter Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) that included a plastic water bottle on a mantel behind them.
After the photo blooper was discovered, a pic of the cast holding water bottles on set was posted on the series' Instagram account with a link to the website for WaterAid, an organization that helps provide clean water to underserved communities.
"We're only human," co-star and fellow nominee Joanne Froggatt also told me yesterday. "Things happen and you have to have a sense of humor about these things."
