It might be time to retire the True Detective season two Twitter meme. A source close to the situation confirmed to E! News that Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are being considered for starring roles in the hit HBO drama's second season.

The first season of True Detective starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson received numerous Emmy nominations, including one for each lead actor.

The Wrap and Variety first reported on the potential casting discusions.

Details on season two remain under wraps, but HBO president Michael Lombardo told reporters at the 2014 Summer TCA Press Tour that he's seen the first two scripts of the new season by Nic Pizzolatto. "The two scripts we have are, I hate to jinx it, but are more exciting than the first season. He's blown us away with the first two episodes."

Lombardo joked that the new season would feature puppets after casting speculation grasped the Internet. Names like Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain have been rumored. Official casting is expected within the next week or and Lombardo hinted the cast would again consist of A-list talent.

"I think we decided to free ourselves early on from the idea of star…I think the truth of the matter is...talented, well-known actors, look for great writing" he said. "I think the people we cast will be well-known cast, but that wasn't our ambition. I think great writing attracts great actors."

The Daily Beast reports True Detective season two will feature new four central characters.

Stay tuned for official word on casting.
