Amanda Bynes is coming clean after getting clean.
The 28-year-old Hairspray actress asked her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, to address several rumors on her behalf. "There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition," the attorney says. "She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private."
"However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors," Arminak says in People magazine's Apr. 21 issue. "For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
After Amanda was arrested in May 2013 and forcibly hospitalized two months later, many of her fans wondered what happened to the former child star. "Amanda currently is on zero medication," Arminak reveals. "She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she's been marijuana-free for the past nine months."
Now a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, Amanda is slowly but surely getting her life back on track. In fact, just the other week, she enjoyed some rest and relaxation with her parents, Rick Bynes and Lynn Bynes, at the Zoetry resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.
"Her family is closely involved with her day-to-day life but they try to give her as much autonomy as possible," Arminak says of the former movie star, who hopes to design her own clothing line one day. "She's doing extremely well. Her primary focus is bonding with her family and being a student."
Lynn is pleased with her daughter's progress. "We're so proud of how far Amanda has come," she says.
Arminak recently spoke to E! News about her client, saying, "Amanda is doing great and excelling in her studies. She is a natural when it comes to fashion and is really enjoying the learning process."
"Her parents and family are so proud of her," Arminak added. "She is an amazing girl."
