Bill Clinton showed some humor Monday when he posted a photo of himself mimicking Hillary Clinton's famous "Texts From Hillary" meme. "I'm following my leader!" the former president tweeted. The next day, Hillary joked, "Well, that explains what happened to my iPad!"
The 67-year-old politician also Clinton also tweaked his Twitter biography, which now says: "Husband, dad, FPOTUS, Bono impersonator, 3-piece suit aficionado, Hoya + Razorback fan, meme appropriator."
Bill strikes the same pose his wife made in a picture that went viral in 2012, courtesy of "Texts from Hillary" Tumblr blog co-creators Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith. While 66-year-old Hillary was holding a BlackBerry when she was traveling from Malta to Libya aboard a C-17 military plane in October 2011, Bill appears to be holding an oversized iPad in his photo, which has been retweeted nearly 3,000 times.
Hillary uses the image that inspired her meme as her own Twitter profile picture. When she joined the social networking site in June 2013, she referenced the internet sensation, telling her followers, "Thanks for the inspiration @ASmith83 and @sllambe—I'll take it from here … #tweetsfromHillary."
"Texts From Hillary" ended as quickly as it began. "What started as a joke at the bar between two friends turned into a national conversation about Secretary Clinton and went as far as talks about 2016," Lambe and Smith wrote in April 2012. "As far as memes go—it has gone as far as it can go. Is it really possible to top a submission from the Secretary herself? No. But then when you get to text with her in real life—it's just over. At least for us. But we have no doubt it will live on with all of you on the internet...We truly appreciate all the support. It turns out that memes really do come true."
