The Bridge is getting a little dose of Horror when American Horror Story: Asylum veteran Franka Potente joins the cast for a multi-episode arc. The German actress will play Eleanor on the FX drama on the second season, which is now in production.

Based on the Swedish/Danish co-production of the same name, FX's The Bridge stars Demián Bichir and Diane Kruger as detectives investigating a serial killer striking on both sides of the Mexico/America border.

Potente's The Bridge character, Eleanor Schrock, is described as "shunned Mennonite" who has a no-nonsense attitude. She still dresses sensibly, but there's a whole lot of sinister underneath her façade. She's ruthless and will stop at nothing.

In addition to Potente's two-episode arc on American Horror Story: Asylum, she's best known for the title role in Run Lola Run. Aside from AHS, her other TV credits include Copper, The Shield, House and Psych. In 2008, she starred in a TV movie titled The Bridge, but it's not related to the FX drama.

The series regular cast for season one of The Bridge also included Annabeth Gish, Ted Levine and Thomas W. Wright. Matthew Lillard and Emily Rios both recurred in season one and will return in season two as series regulars.

Season two of The Bridge is set to premiere summer 2014.
