Two days after news broke that he and longtime girlfriend Katy Perry broke up, the 36-year-old singer stepped out in NYC as a newly single man.
Mayer was spotted leaving a Big Apple building wearing tan shoes, blue jeans, a big blue and red sweater with sunglasses on and a backpack on his back. The "Who You Love" singer kept a straight face while heading out surrounded by photographers.
When asked by paps if he and Perry had split, John had no comment and didn't answer.
E! News confirmed earlier this week that the lovebirds had split. A source told us that the Prism singer's upcoming world tour was a major issue for the former couple. The insider said Perry was definitely putting her work first but added that it's unclear whether or not her upcoming tour was the actual final straw for the split (Perry is booked solid from May until November after recently adding another leg of her tour).
While there may have been signs they were headed for a split, the breakup was somewhat a shock as both Perry and Mayer seemed super lovey dovey last month at the 2014 Grammys. They also recorded a duet and sexy music video together several months ago.
Meanwhile, Mayer is scheduled to appear on tonight's episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers.
