Two of the most popular series on television are finally crossing over.
Homeland's Nazanin Boniadi has been recruited to join ABC's smash series, Scandal, for a major arc in the rest of the series' third season, E! News has confirmed. Both Scandal and Homeland are known for their high-throttle drama, and shocking, Washington D.C.-based stories, so Boniadi should feel right at home alongside Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and the rest of OPA.
Although the details of Boniadi's character are being kept under super-secret lockdown, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that this mystery woman will have a heavy presence and will recur in the final eight episodes of the addictive drama's third season.
When we left Scandal, Olivia had just learned that her mother was the terrorist that was supposed to be on the plane that was shot down, and her dad has been trying to protect his daughter from her the whole time. Now Olivia must find Mama Pope (Khandi Aexander) while balancing the gladiators and Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) quest for re-election.
Boniadi's resume includes a number of television series, including a guest star role on Grey's Anatomy and a lengthy stint on How I Met Your Mother as one of Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) first real relationships. However, the 31-year-old actress is best known as FBI analyst Fara Sherazi on Homeland's third season.
Scandal returns Thursday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report this news.
